” The Criminal Law (Suicide) Act 1993 decriminalized suicide in Ireland but assisting another person’s suicide–through aiding, abetting, counseling or procuring–remains a criminal offense with a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison. Ireland has not signed and ratified the Biomedicine Convention.
