UN expresses concern over moves by UK government to facilitate Rwanda removal plan for migrants

The ability of the court to review parliamentary decisions is a key feature of UK constitutional law and ensures one body does not hold too much power, thereby protecting the rule of law. This comes after the UK Supreme Court ruled in November 2023 that the Rwanda policy was unlawful. New legislation may put this at risk.

US Supreme Court grants certiorari for two cases regarding federal district courts’ jurisdiction

Both of these cases were added to the 2022-2023 docket. The US Supreme Court Monday granted both Jones v. Hendrix and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) v. Cochran certiorari based on their petitions. Hendrix is an Eighth Circuit habeas corpus case about 28 US Code § 2255.

Pakistan law minister dismisses UN working group recommendations urging release of former PM Imran Khan

The WGAD demanded Khan’s immediate release, claiming that his arrest was arbitrary and in violation of international law. Khan has been in jail since August 2023 and was convicted in some cases ahead of a Pakistan national election which took place in February 2024.
