Indonesia’s Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced former agriculture minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo to 10 years in prison over graft charges on Thursday, according to local media The Jakarta Post. Judge Rianto Adam Pontoh said Limpo was fined and ordered to compensate 300 million rupiah and about 14.6 billion rupiah, respectively. Finland’s parliament passed a law Friday allowing border guards to stop asylum seekers from Russia. Parliament declared the bill “urgent” and quickly passed by a vote of 167-31. The law is temporary and will only be effective for one year after its enactment. In that timeframe, it allows the government to review and restrict the reception of applications for asylum.
