A Pakistani court on Saturday sentenced former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to seven years in prison for violating a marriage law when they wed in 2018, officials and a lawyer for the couple said. The prosecution asserted Khan and his wife violated Islamic law, which says that a woman must wait three months before re-marrying.

Mayo Clinic has entered into a collaboration with TruLite Health — Mayo is helping the Phoenix-based startup develop its software platform designed to address providers’ clinical bias. The health system said it chose to collaborate with TruLite because of the platform’s potential to mitigate health inequities and enhance patient outcomes at the point of care.

The Chamber of Deputies of Argentina, which is the lower chamber of the country’s legislature, passed on Friday an omnibus bill titled “Bases and Starting Points for the Liberty of Argentines” that included a number of reforms and was proposed by libertarian President Javier Milei. The bill passed with a majority vote of 144 in favor and 109 against, following a debate that began Wednesday.

Australian police stated at a press conference on Friday that their investigation into the pro-Palestinian demonstration outside the Sydney Opera House last year did not find any evidence of protesters chanting “gas the Jews” However, the investigation did say other antisemitic slogans were used. Senegal presidential candidate Khalifa Sall expressed Saturday his opposition to postponing the country’s presidential elections. This stance comes in direct response to Senegal President Macky Sall’s announcement of the decision to postpone the elections, which were originally scheduled for February 25, 2024. The postponement was attributed to alleged corruption in the final approval process of the 20 candidates selected to run for the presidency of Senegal.

Shellyne Rodriguez, the machete-wielding former Hunter College professor, has now been fired by the Cooper Union college. The school previously stood with Rodriguez after she trashed a student display and held a machete to the neck of a journalist. It appears that Rodriguez’s anti-Israel comments were finally too much for Cooper Union. What is interesting is what it takes at both Hunter College and The Cooper Union to be fired.

A DC federal judge indefinitely postponed the trial date in former US President Donald Trump’s 2020 election interference case. US District Judge Tanya Chutkan vacated the trial date, originally set for March 4, since both parties are still awaiting a decision from the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit on Trump’s claim of immunity. Chutkan previously stayed any further court filings in the case for the same reason.
