Sri Lanka anti-drug operation to continue amid human rights concerns

In a press conference Sri Lanka’s P ublic Security Minister Tiran Alles, one of twelve members of Parliament’s Select Committee to deal with the “drug menace,” vowed to continue the controversial anti drug campaign Yukthiya amid human rights concerns. The campaign was announced in early December 2023 via press conference. In a message directed to the country’s drug dealers and organized criminals, the minister called for drug operations to cease.

Criminal complaint filed against Israel president during visit to Switzerland

The Swiss Federal Prosecutor’s office confirmed Friday to Swiss media outlet Keystone-SDA that a criminal complaint against Israeli President Isaac Herzog has been filed. US state judge rules to keep Trump on Washington presidential primary ballot

A judge in Washington state ruled Thursday that Donald Trump will remain on Washington’s presidential primary ballot, rejecting an effort to have him disqualified. The petition was filed by eight voters from Kitsap County. They argued that Trump’s actions regarding the Capitol riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 election results constituted insurrection, thus making him ineligible to appear on the ballot under the Fourteenth Amendment of the US Constitution.
