The Chinese government is silencing discussion and commemoration of the 1989 Tiananmen Massacre, according to a statement released by Human Rights Watch (HRW) on Sunday. June 4 will mark 35 years since the Chinese military attacked civilian protestors in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square in 1989, allegedly killing and wounding thousands. No official death toll has even been made available.

The Islamabad High Court in Pakistan on Monday acquitted the State’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, and ex-Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in the highly publicized Cipher Case. The two former leaders appealed to the High Court after a special court sentenced them to 10 years of imprisonment in January. The court’s Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb have accepted their appeal, much to the relief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI Party)

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty filed a notice of dismissal of charges on Sunday against State Trooper Ryan Londregan amid the shooting death of Ricky Cobb II. The decision comes after defense attorneys presented several new pieces of evidence in recent weeks, challenging the state’s ability to prove that Londregan’s actions were not authorized as a use of force by a peace officer.
