The family of EU Diplomat Johan Floderus continue to push for his release as the Swedish citizen turns 33 in Iranian prison. The family of detained the Swedish native released a statement on Sunday appealing for his release from Iran. He was first arrested on 17 April 2022 at Tehran Airport. Since then, Floderus has been held in Iran’s Evin prison for over 500 days without charge.

The German prosecutors office has officially charged two individuals with suspected treason on Friday, after they were indicted on August 24th. The two suspects referred to as Carsten L and Arthur E were accused of high treason through the passing on of state secrets to Russia’s Secret Service. Both are currently being held in pre-trial detention.

Air strikes in the Quoro market area of Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, killed at least 40 civilians and injured at least 50 more. The market “massacre,” with the highest death toll since the beginning of the war in Sudan, was reported by the Resistance Committee, a local activist group providing humanitarian aid to victims of the war. The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) alleged that the Sudanese military was responsible for the strikes.

The Trade Unions Congress (TUC) announced Sunday they are reporting the UK government to the UN watchdog on workers rights over the implementation of the Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Act 2023. Fresh violence erupted in the Indian state of Manipur on Friday, worsening an already tense ethnic conflict in the region. The violence broke out on the morning of September 8 at Pallel in the Tengnoupal district and continued for several hours, leaving a few dead and several injured. A US federal district court on Friday denied former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’ request to remove two Georgia state criminal charges to federal court. Meadows asked to transfer his charges to federal court under 28 U.S.C. § 1442(a)(1). The statute allows a US federal officer acting under duties of their office to remove state civil or criminal actions to federal court.
