The European Union (EU) has issued a stern condemnation regarding the escalating violence in Sudan’s Darfur region. The EU expressed deep concern over the potential for “another genocide.” The conflict, ongoing since April, involves Sudan’s regular army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The RSF’s recent gains have granted them de facto control in western Darfur.

The US Supreme Court on Monday agreed to consider the evidentiary scope of expert witness testimony for demonstrating intent in a “blind mule” drug trafficking case, Diaz v. United States. The petition for reconsideration was brought by Delilah Diaz, a California woman who was convicted of transporting drugs into the US after the government presented expert testimony to disprove Diaz’s claim that she did not know she was carrying drugs.

A British man suspected of being a member of an ISIS death squad called “the Beatles” was sentenced to eight years in prison Monday for possession of a firearm and two charges of funding terrorism. The man, Aine Davis, was sentenced at the Old Bailey for the three offences, which date back to 2013 and 2014. The terror cell known as “the Beatles” consisted of four members who spoke with British accents.
