Alabama Governor Kay Ivey commuted the death sentence of Robin “Rocky” Myers to life imprisonment on Friday over concerns about Myers’ possible innocence. Opinions in the two cases will be on different timelines. People v. Emanuel should be decided by June 2, but, because final supplemental briefing in the People v. Barrett death penalty appeal isn’t due until March 28 and the case will not be submitted until then, the opinion in that matter could be filed as late as June 26 (see here ).

A US federal judge held Saturday that President Donald Trump’s decision to terminate Hampton Dellinger as head of the Office of Special Counsel (OSC) is unconstitutional. The Special Counsel’s Office protects the merit system in the federal civil service.
