The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled on Monday that the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) violated the US Constitution’s First Amendment when it tweeted several posts that were not “germane” to the legal profession. Since membership in the state bar is required for US lawyers to practice within the state, the court held that the bar’s communications must be related to the legal profession.

The arrest warrants stem from two chemical weapons attacks that occurred in Ghouta, Syria in August 2013. The warrants are in connection with the ongoing investigation into the two chemical weapons attacks.

The UK Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that the government’s Rwanda plan is unlawful. Justices deciding the case held that the policy violated section 6 of the Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA) in that the plan is incompatible with human rights standards the UK is obligated to uphold. The Rwanda plan was an immigration policy used by the UK government to “stop the boats” of migrants arriving in the UK.
